China has not only significantly increased the total kilometers of its railways, but has also progressed in the technology and speed of its trains. At the beginning of next year, according to the president of the company responsible for super-fast locomotives, China intends to launch its third generation of magnetic levitation trains named Maglev.
The president of the China Railway Zhuzhou Zhou Qinghe also revealed at the annual meetings of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (the country’s main political advisory body) that unmanned trains will have a maximum speed of 200 kilometers then.

Zhou told the Xinhua news agency that these trains, compared to the first generation, have a 40 percent higher climb capacity. The train speed around the corners is 15 percent faster and the maglev coaches also contain more passengers and are suitable for urban or interurban transport between 50 and 200 kilometers.
The latest magnetic levitation trains are also equipped with powerful controls to achieve autonomous driving controlled by a ground operating system, Zhou added. To achieve this, CRRC Zhuzhou led the new train project in collaboration with over 20 scientific research institutes and companies in the country.
